Newt Gingrich Hatin' On Latinos

Now that Newt Gingrich has risen to front runner of the month status in the 2012 GOP Presidential sweepstakes, as Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain have painfully discovered, the increased media scrutiny can be a pain.

Especially when you have a long paper and policy trail as a politician.

Newt made this 2007 speech to more than 100 people at the National Federation of Republican Women event in which he attacked bilingual education and said that Spanish is 'the language of the ghetto.'

"The government should quit mandating that various documents be printed in any one of 700 languages depending on who randomly shows up to vote", said Gingrich in 2007. "The American people believe English should be the official language of the government. … We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto,” Gingrich said to cheers from the crowd.

Umm hmm.. Another example of another GOP candidate putting their bigoted foot in their mouths, and this one is being revealed at an inopportune time for Newt.
